Trust

As I near my departure date to Fiji, I have been evaluating myself and what things I would like to work on this summer. I realize I have a hard time trusting because of past friendships, relationships and family dynamics. I find that I treat my relationship with God as an earthly relationship. I have a hard time trusting God based off of things that people have done to me in the past. I have seen God work in my life and in the lives of others, I know he isn't bound by worldly views, so why do I try to relate his relationship with earthly ones from my past? I hope that being pulled out of my comfort zone and out of my world, I'll be able to look past all the hurts that have been subjected to so that I can better understand that the relationship God offers to his children far supersedes anything we can wrap our human minds around.

This is Homes of Hope in Fiji

Fiji support letter

I would like to share an opportunity I have been given that will hopefully be life changing for me and for the people I meet. As my relationship with God grows closer, my desire to serve has become a priority in my life. I have decided to take my summer and give it all to God!  Sun Valley Community Church, the place I call home, has a ministry called institute for missions (IFM). Institute for Missions is a ten-week program that focuses on the spiritual and leadership development of college aged men and women. These new missionaries are lead through rigorous two-week training, and then they deploy for eight weeks of mission work in one of several available locations

Learning to trust God, and people he has put in my life is part of the IFM process, it is different from most mission trips, because it doesn’t focus on a destination, rather the spiritual development of the missionaries and the people they will have the privilege to meet. I have been selected by my IFM leaders to go to Fiji to serve at Homes for Hope. Homes of Hope strengthens and restores families in the South Pacific, operates residential homes for young single mothers and their children, and offers training in parenting and marriage, small business, and Christian discipleship. The trip is set for May 23rd through August 4th of 2010.

In order for this mission to be possible, I need your partnership in financial support and prayer. I cannot do this without you. Would you pray and consider supporting me? I have to raise 4500 dollars by May 1st. If you feel God moving you to support me financially, please make all checks payable to Sun Valley Community Church or you can give online at www.sunvalleycc.com/onlinegiving.html Also know that all donations are tax deductible: you will receive a receipt for your records. More than financial support, I need your prayer! Pray that I can discern God’s will in my life and to help spread God’s love to a community that is hurting.
